Just Two More Minutes!

I cannot even believe I have let this go for so long, again.

OK, yes I can.  And so can anyone who knows me.

The quick update:
Jake grows by leaps and bounds, and does something new and funny almost every day.  Of late, lots of "I Love You Mommy" (and Daddy)  (And Puppy - maybe more than either Scott or I!) and "I Not A Baby!" can be heard around our house.  Oh, and his other fave, "Just 2 more minutes!"
Scott goes back to days on Monday - Can't wait to have him back during the week, no more single parenting!
I'm still addicted to anything Free, Clearance, or Bargain Related.  Will try to share more of those deals here.  As if anyone is reading . . . .

Kristin Hannah’s Celebrate Our Stories House Party™

So excited - Just got selected as a host for the Kristin Hannah host party above - Can't wait to share some great new reading with everyone!  If you are interested in a copy of Firefly Lane, let me know - I will "invite" you to my party.

Will post a bit more soon - In the meantime, what is your favorite new book, or new author?  I need some suggestions, as I have just finished the new book Her Fearful Symmetry (incredible read) and I am currently bookless (gasp!).

Hope you are all ready for the holidays, unlike yours truly, who will apparently be shopping on Christmas Eve this year - Ugh!!!

Thankful for M&M's This Thanksgiving:)

As Thanksgiving (rapidly) approaches, I find myself pondering what I am thankful for this year.  In some ways, it's been tough to rattle off a list.  Of course, I am ever thankful for my loving husband, and my beautiful son.  But we have had a rough year, facing the loss of loved ones and a baby to be, challenging finances since Scott was laid off, and supporting the far too many people in our lives suffering in one way or another - some fighting more serious battles than others, but they are all in pain - All told, sometimes it is enough to make me wonder why I should struggle to be optimistic and ever mindful of the blessings in my life.

Then Scott asked Jake what he was thankful for this Thanksgiving.  Jake, at 2, didn't quite get it, so Scott asked him what things he loved, and he was quick to respond.  In no particular order, my son loves and is thankful for:
  • M&M's (Mmmm's as he calls them)
  • Puppy
  • Mommy
  • Daddy
  • Dora and Boots
So simple.  So easy.  He loves the things that make him happy.  With that in mind, it is easier for me to say that this year, I am thankful for my family and friends, most especially Scott and Jake, and for a rewarding job, and for the opportunity to celebrate this upcoming holiday season and share it with those most dear.

I hope that as your get ready for your Thanksgiving Celebrations, you have many things to be grateful for.  And if all else fails, go get some M&M's.  I hear that they make a person pretty happy:)

Back to the real world . . .

And a week has gone by since learning that our little bean was not to be a part of our lives, for now anyway. Today, there were actually more good moments then there were bad - giving me hope that maybe life will get back to some sense of "normal", whatever that is.

This week, life really sucked. Too much. But at the same time, Jake started saying new words - five or ten at a clip, and made funny faces at me, and Jake, Scott and I danced in the living room alot. This weekend, we celebrated our nephews birthday, and went to the Italian Festival. And laughed as Jake and Derek had a hug race between Grandma and Pop Pop before bed - They must have hugged each of them 20 times, and their laughter as they ran back and forth was contagious. So despite our sorrow, life keeps moving forward, and it is good. I was reminded this week that people, for the most part, are so good. We are so fortunate to have the support of family and friends to hold us up when we need it - That is heartening for me.

Tomorrow, it's back to the real world, and I intend to take it one day at a time, one hour at a time if need be. Back to work, and taking care of Jake, and hopefully not forgetting too much more (I've done a fair amount of forgetting this week!) Scott has a job interview Wednesday, fingers crossed. So I move forward, and though I realize it will still take time to heal, that process will be at least a little bit easier because of the love and support around me.
